Educational Sector Portfolio

Educational establishments are highly specific when it comes to the needs of students and children, and it is common knowledge that some working environments are conducive to learning, while others are not.

At Barter Hill we work with architects that know that a building can promote well-being and encourage a positive outlook, and we aim to generate a user-friendly environment. Our approach in this sector is balanced by the knowledge that financial control is a key priority, and that funds may be limited.

Recent examples include:

Davenant Foundation School

The School asked us to extend the existing assembly hall, which was a significant project. The building design included a steel-framed extension, and a new external lift. We were also asked to conduct a flood risk assessment on the site.

Sevenoaks School

The School proposed a planning application for development of a new performing arts centre, and asked Barter Hill to conduct a technical appraisal, as well as a transport statement for a new access road and parking.

These are just two of many similar projects on which we’ve worked. We look forward to providing further engineering resources in the educational sector, as it represents an excellent opportunity to show how high quality engineering principles can make a difference to the way in which schools and colleges operate.
